ABARTH 595 ANNIVERSARY 50th EDITION

In 2013 a Special Abarth was launched to celebrate 50 years of the first ever Abarth 595, a Limited Edition on the 2013 Abarth 595 came in the form of this exclusive little number, the 595 Anniversario 50th.

With a host of unique features, it was the only Abarth 595 Phase I Limited Edition in the UK, making this an interesting addition to not ignore.

50the-anniversary Side

Finished in the then-unique three-layer paint of pearlescent matt white and with the most powerful engine Abarth had produced in 2013 of 180 bhp, this was a deliberate car for a collectors market, being released in a maximum run of just 299 editions.

The interior is just as customised and demonstrates the attention to detail and the sporting style of the exclusive 595 50th Anniversary. The red leather sports seats with white inserts and red stitching, Include a unique ‘red backing’. Together with the unique finish of the dashboard and a sunroof, like the original car, these are all modern re-interpretations of the original 1963 car.

As with a number of the limited Edition Abarths they came with small tricks and extras. The original handbook is such an item for the 50th Anniversario. Also, a special keyfob cover was included. It’s rare to find the original red and black car mats that came with the car. these wear out as normally as any other but are very expensive to replace.

So how do the numbers add up… well up to 299 cars were produced for the European, African, and Middle Eastern markets. As many as 99 of the 299 – ’50th Anniversary‘ cars were sent to the Asian markets – Japan in particular – which is of strategic importance for the brand’s success. 50 editions went to Australia. And the same for the UK, just 50 were released here. It’s possible one remains unregistered and as many as 10 are no longer in the UK. In the usual way, the whole collection was numbered with the lower dashboard plaque from 1 to 299.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Of the UK cars, the numbers collected so far…

017 / 040 / 041 / 042 / 044 / 046 / 051 / 052* / 053 / 054 / 056 / 066 / 124 / 125 / 126 / 127 / 188 / 189 /190 / 193 / 199 / 241 / 242 / 243 / 244 / 245 /  248 / 250 / 251 / 252 / 253 / 255/ 256

The usual ‘batched’ numbers that these plaques appear on all the editions show up again! *052 – This number appears on a car in Australia… so needs confirming.

I also have these numbers too;

020 / 025 / 027 / 032 / 035 / 050 / 057 / 068 / 086 / 088 / 094

I believe these are RHD cars… but do need to do a bit more research and find more details… the VIN numbers add up but cannot confirm as yet.

In my opinion, these are currently a good buy. (Aug19) Find one around the £13k era with less than 30k miles, I personally think you would not lose too much if used and ran correctly.

Please let me know of any you know of including your own car to add to the registry. There’s a lot more to come, including photos & more details.

Here’s a UK car. No241
Here’s one of the UK’s lowest mileage cars, less than 4500 miles in 2022. This is No125. ©empirecars

      1. Hi Mike
Thought I’d let you know that I’ve just purchased 125. I’m really pleased with it and it should live in UK for the next few years at least.

      2. Hi Peter,

One of the lowest mileage ones out there too.
        Thanks for getting in touch.

  3. Hi I am a little confused regarding the number that are supposed to be in the U.K on the plaque mine say’s 50-51 , I assume this means mine is 50 of 51 in the U.K but some of the numbers mentioned above are249 & 254. So saying all that What numbers were actually allocated to the U.K?

    1. Hi Barry,
Ok, so the numbers were random throughout the world for the total of 299 cars. A total of 50 RHD cars were allocated for the UK. Yours is No 51. It was first registered in Glasgow I believe. The 50* means the 50th edition. That is a bit confusing I’ll admit.
As the collection of numbers I’ve gathered show, you could get any number from 1 to 299 anywhere in the world.
Hopefully, that makes some sense for you.
      Thanks for getting in touch,
      Mike

      1. Hi Mike thanks for the fast response, yes it make sense My car was registered 31 Dec 2016 as you say in Glasgow, why an earth the guy couldn’t wait 1 day to register it 1/1/2016. Would you know what date the last one was registered in the U.K?

      2. Hi Barry,
You do mean 2014… but yeah, there will be a reason. Most prob it can be a cut-off point for certain emissions that change in a new year and also a change in the edition of the cars believe it or not.
I don’t have any 50th cars registered in 2015 but have 8 of them registered on 31/01/2014 including yours. They basically went from Jan to Dec 2014. The other thing to note is the VIN doesn’t mean when the car was registered. Meaning they were maybe all built within a few weeks and then registered when finally sold.
        Kind Regards
        Mike

  4. Hi Mike I assume when you say 31/01/2014 you mean 31/12/2014 which is when mine was registered as you say in Glasgow.
I would love to know who owned it in between when it was registered in Glasgow & me buying it from a main dealer in Southampton last month with 23,000 miles on the clock, although it looks & feels like 3000 miles.
I would like to add what a great article you wrote above👍

    1. Hi Barry, yeah I did mean 12/2014. Thanks for the feedback on the site. It is a great car and one that will be a proper collector’s item.
I’ve had a quick look at the car in my records, someone called georgeben had it and was active in the owners club. It came for sale at carholics recently and originally came for sale at Thames Abarth in Slough. That may help you a bit in your search. I may have the print-outs I’ll have a search when I can – kind regards, Mike

  5. Hi Mike, I have now found out where the missing cars are at least where some have gone. As a member of the Fiat forum I was informed Abarth cars are one of the most stolen hot hatches considering the low quantity made. The 50th Anniverserio as only 50 r/h drive were sold in the UK now only just under 40 left in only 9 years. I have myself been told about 2 that were stolen & never recovered, hence the reason for the expensive security system I have just had installed.

    1. Hi Barry,
that I can well believe! They do have a poor record for their security, that’s for sure.
I think the remaining cars are a cross between being exported, wrote-off and having been stolen for parts.
On the other side, it makes them even rarer! Thanks for getting in touch,
      The search continues…

      1. Enjoy it! I have had mine for 4 months & covered 250 miles. just for curiosity when you next send it in for a service I would be interested to know if your wheels have spacers, I cleaned the inside of my wheels & found spacers I don’t know if they are standard or not.
Great car and very rare, look after it & keep it locked

      2. Hi Barry,
spacers are a popular and fairly cheap option that a lot of owners opt for as an aftermarket update. Gives it that fuller stance!
I do agree with the security issues, the Abarth doesn’t have the greatest security devices as standard.

    1. Hi , Coincidentally I bought my Anniversario in Southampton, from the main Fiat agent Number 51. Originally came from Scotland. Regarding price don’t think you paid over the top by memory I paid just over 14K 2 years ago with 23k on the clock. Now 24500. The Anniversario is nothing like the normal Abarth , there are less than 30 r/h drives left, plus remember it has all the extras built into it plus virtually the same as the Ferrari Abarth without the badges. It can only be a long term investment if kept in the same condition & low milage.👍👍
